February Update:
After a week of good times with Mum and Dad (Mark & Bernie) in NYC, the fun continued in Lake Tahoe where we were met by Joshua and Rob Kerr. Blue skies and some fresh snow added to the Heavenly mountain experience, but the best part about it was spending time with family and friends!

WELCOME TO THE MOUNTAINS
Eddie R arranged for a few days away at a beautiful mountain lodge at the foot of the Catskills in upstate New York. Secluded, snowy and isolated, it was the perfect antidote to our busy first six months in New York City. Although we didn't have the photographic prowess of Glen "the tumblr slayer" Allsop, we flicked the G12 into black and white, upped the exposure and did our best.

SO THIS IS CHRISTMAS
The delicious wafting of our Thanksgiving turkey had spread far and wide, enticing a handful of lucky Australian wanderers to our door for a Christmas re-run. As our old mate JRR Tolkien said, 'not all who wander are lost', and the Aussie orphans who found themselves mulled-wine-less on Christmas Day were welcomed to festive table-sessions at our BK home.
We were one host down with Eddie R attending a family reunion of epic scale back in Sydney, so Glen and I did our best to sous-chef alongside cooking maestro Amee. Mostly we offered our famous and sought-after taste-testing skills. Turns out we weren't really needed - Amee produced a feast that would have made Martha Stewart proud.
To ease the home-sickness, we had Pinot from New Zealand, Shiraz from South Australia and Mulled Wine from Thredbo (sought of). There was a fair amount of musical talent in the house too - the brothers Hawkins on guitar and vocals, Glen on the ivories, Amee on her awesome new christmas harmonica (in C major), Ruth on vase-drums/wine-bottle pipes (also conveniently in C major) and myself on 6 strings and treble piano. Somehow, every sing-along that started with a carol ended with New York State of Mind. Home-sickness successfully avoided I guess.
So, despite being far from home, we made a day of it. Good times.

PS.
(GLEN) Also important to note is that instead of the annual Christmas afternoon surf, we introduced the Annual Christmas Peloton... ie. a swift & frosty ride around the block on the bike in a close and precise Tour de France alignment.
